Form not opening in design mode InfoPath 2010

I designed a form a wjile ago for tracking jobs within my workplace. This was created using Infopath 2003 and published to MOSS 2007.

We have now upgraded to Office 2010 and I wish to make some changes to the form to take advantage of the increased functionality and features that 2010 offers.

Unfortunately I cannot seem to open the form in design mode. If I open the form as normal then it opens in Filler mode with limited options available on the toolbar (Submit, Clipbord and Text Editing). If I try and open the form by going through the Start menu and selecting InfoPath Designer then opening the file from here, it still opens it in Filler mode with no options to actually design.

I am loathe to create a fresh form but I may have to unless anyone can give me an idea.

    Thanks

Open the form library where the form is published in Windows Explorer. In the Forms folder in the library, you'll find template.xsn. Copy that out locally somewhere. Right click and select Design - does that open it in design mode? From there you should be able to resave locally, and republish when you have made your changes.

EDITED TO ADD: In 2010 and 2013, there are two pieces to InfoPath - Filler & Designer. Make sure you have InfoPath Designer installed. :)

Hi Hilary, thanks for your reply. I couldnt carry out that method as I couldnt find the template. Luckily we still had Office 2003 installed on one of network machines so I opened the form on there and saved it as a template. Then I could right click and select design. Now Im just presented with other issues which I'll mention in another post.

    Thank you
