I have a form that has a comment field that auto populates the commenter when the comment field changes. It is being set to the value held in another form field that gets populated on form load. This rule works fine in Filler and works fine in Browser except when the commenter tabs out of the comment field (ie, they type in the comment and hit tab to go to the next field). When they add their comment and click out of the field instead of tabbing, it populates just fine. To add to all this, it is also itermittent and will sometimes work just fine with tabbing. I have re-added the repeating table to the form and verified that the postback setting on the field is set to Always, but it still exhibits the same behavior. I use InfoPath 2013 and host the form on SharePoint 2013.

I've discovered that it is only doing this when leaving my mouse cursor on the text field while tabbing out of it. If I move my cursor away from the field and then tab out of the field after changing it, it works as it should. Any explanation as to why the rule does not fire when tabbing out of the field after changing it with the mouse cursor on the field is greatly appreciated and a fix or workaround is all the more appreciated.

How odd. What browser are you using? Does it reproduce on multiple machines?

I was able to fix this by checking at least one of the commands in the customize commands window of the repeating table properties on the data tab. I didn't want the side menu to open, but if it will allow this functionality then I suppose it won't hurt to show the insert below option. It is very bizarre behavior though and I found that it wasn't just if I had my cursor on the field, but if I had my cursor anywhere in the row of the repeating table. We use IE9 and it was presenting on multiple boxes. I will test it out in another browser, but since we use IE9 it kind of has to work there.

I tried to break it again by unchecking the all the options under Customize commands once again, but it did not break after I re-published it, so I'm not sure why check an option there fixed it and why unchecking the option won't break it again.
