Help Adding Financial Functions to InfoPath (PV, NPV, Rate, etc.)

Hello - I'm developing a form for my business to use when creating repurchase invoices for our vendor.  InfoPath is the perfect tool for this process and will make the experience much more user friendly than our current Excel workbook version, EXCEPT I can't figure out how to add financial functions to the fields.  I've read in older posts that it may be possible but wasn't able to find any actual code to borrow - is this something that can be done?  I've never done any programming so I'm a VERY green newbie- any help you can offer would be much appreciated!

Hi - any chance you are using InfoPath 2010? If so, do you have SharePoint 2010 installed with Excel Services configured? I realize this is a long shot and a lot of requirements, but with IP 2010 REST connections and the Excel Services REST API, you can actually use Excel as a calculation engine for InfoPath, no code required.

    Thanks for responding!

I do have IP 2010 but not SharePoint - I thought of creating an Access database to link to, but can't figure out how to get that working properly either; do you have any other ideas I could try?

What would the Access database contain? I'm not sure I understand how a database could replace calculation functions - I'm having trouble envisioning that.

In that case, it may be that this is a situation where you'll end up having to write some custom code, unfortunately.

This blog post has some nice info that may help you get started.

I was just grasping for straws on the database, really.  Does anyone know code I could use to accomplish adding these functions or know of resources I could use to create it myself?

Hi - I know this thread is a bit old, and you may have found a solution to your problem- but I wanted to let you know I just added 13 commands to qRules with the Financial methods - PV, NPV, Rate, IRR, etc. These will be part of qRules 4.2 which is being released around June 15, I believe.

Let me know if you'd like to beta test these new commands.
