    Access is denied

Hi, I am new to InfoPath. I search the net and prior posts. A post back in 2008 had a similar issue, but it was unresolved. May I have help? I open a new black form. Add in a button, open button properties, click on "Edit Form Code" get the following prompt InfoPath cannot add the event handler. Access is denied. On another machine I am able to open and get to code to edit. I reinstalled and installed InfoPath and the designer. Any direction would be great. Thanks

What is the operating system on tnhe machine that works? On the machine that doesn't work? What version of InfoPath? What happens if you run InfoPath as admin - can you add an event then?

Under Tools / Form Options / Programming (or from IP 2010, File / Info / Form Options / Programming) you can see the language IP is using as well as the location for the code files - try changing either one to see if you get any different results.

Hi Hilary, thank you for your reply.

What is the operating system on tnhe machine that works? Win 7, Office 2007

On the machine that doesn't work? Win XP Office 2007

What version of InfoPath? Both, Office 2007

What happens if you run InfoPath as admin - can you add an event then?  I can enter the form code on Win 7 machine, which is my personal machine and I am admin.  The Win XP is work provided.  I cannot run as admin.  I receive the error only in Win XP.

Under Tools / Form Options / Programming (or from IP 2010, File / Info / Form Options / Programming) you can see the language IP is using as well as the location for the code files - try changing either one to see if you get any different results.  I changed this to Visual Basic.  I also did this under Tools / Opitions/ Design Tab.  I found this on another forum.  Did not help.

Update as of this morning:  I was able to enter the code in Win 7.  Therefore, I placed an error in the code and saved the form.  I also transferred each of the files and subfiles into each of the sub/directory, "C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My Documents\InfoPath Projects\FILENAME\etc.... to the corresponding directory on Win XP machine.  I was able to get in the code for Win XP.  This was a little tricky, but it works.

Thanks for your help.  I may be back as I am new to infopath and trying to mimic the directions on http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/how-to-submit-items-rows-repeating-table-infopath-sharepoint-list.htm.  I know there is a product provided by your company to resolve this, however, I am on a work machine and cannot install.  May I address this in a new post if I have any issues?  Or be redirected?  Thanks.

It's funny - I actually was expecting to hear that this was working on XP, failing on 7 (due to UAC).

I'm surprised that your uninstall / reinstall didn't fix the issue - but glad you figured out a work around. Post new questions in a new thread, please - it makes them easier to find than if you tack onto one that is a different topic....

Hilary, thanks for you response.  I stumped help desk in US and India on this.  Was able to backdoor and enter the code through the method I specifed before.

I posted to forum my new question regarding new error message from code, http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/20556/71173.aspx#71173

    Thanks

jfrade, can you explain the steps you took in detail to resolve this problem?

I'm getting the same error but don't understand how you fixed it. Thanks.

Sure, the steps required some copy and renaming files of prior working code.  Can you send me an email through the forum and I can elaborate as needed.

    Good luck
