InfoPath Dev

Is it possible to do this?  I have an existing Form Template with a nice table, but I need to use it repeatedly inside new form templates.  I can't copy and paste the table within a form because the controls get messed up (duplicated).  The template part mechanism works well because it augments the control field names with a numerical prefix.  However there doesn’t seem to be a way to Save As Template Part.  Do I have to design the form from scratch in order to get it converted to a template part?  Thanks for any help!

Hi Mark! Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately, there's currently no way of saving a form template as a template part. What I would suggest you do is design a blank template part and copy that table from your form template. Create the same schema, then bind the fields from the table accordingly. That should save you time. At least you wouldn't have to create the table totally from scratch!

Thanks Mel for the advice, and unfortunate news about no Save As Template Part.  Turns out I re-designed the template again from scratch as a template part.  Ouch!  But it turned out a little nicer looking the second time.  I wonder if creating the schema first is a good general idea.  Don't know how to do that yet, I just put in fields and the schema builds.  I'm not doing a database yet, just creating a form with a few validation rules, and publishing it via e-mail.  I see a lot of strange behavior working with InfoPath - form not loading, but loads on second attempt.  I don't really want InfoPATH to look for a form update - I want just the user to use the form in the e-mail, and submit it back.  As I stubble along, I'll look through the forum to see if there is any answers already written.  Thanks again!  - Mark
