  • DBXL - Tips for Reshredding documents

You can reshred DBXL forms using the DBXL Admin Tool but for large document sets you'll want to use the DBXL Migration Tool. And, for specific document sets, you can use our handy Powershell script.

Do you need to reshred documents in DBXL? How many?

Here are a couple of tips for you:

Tip 1: Use DBXL Migration Tool instead of DBXL Admin Tool for reshredding> 100 documents

If you are reshredding a large number of documents (>100), use DBXL Migration Tool instead of DBXL Admin Tool. This is because DAT will timeout before the reshredding is complete.

Download the DBXL Migration Tool here:  http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/document_deployer/entry95103.aspx

Tip 2: Use SharePoint Powershell script for reshredding a range of DocIDs

SharePoint Powershell script is a third alternative for reshredding DBXL forms. The main benefit of the Powershell script is that it allows reshredding a range of DocIDs, instead of reshredding one document or ALL documents.

The Powershell script can be run from any desktop or server with Powershell installed.

Here is a usage example -

    Execute the command as below:

    .\ReshredDocs.ps1 http://yourservername/QdabraWebService YourDocTypename startDocID endDocID

    Example output:

    PS C:\data\DBXL Powershell> .\ReshredDocs.ps1 http://shp2010-dev1/QdabraWebService Case37479 1259 5000

    2.8.2013.0906 (Debug)

    DocID 1259 reshredded

    DocID 1260 reshredded

    DocID 1261 reshredded

    DocID 1263 reshredded

    DocID 1264 reshredded

    DocID 1265 reshredded

    DocID 1267 reshredded

    DocID 1268 reshredded

    DocID 1269 reshredded

    …
