I have a form (Form A) that was built on a SharePoint List (SharePoint List A). When submitted, the information is logged in SharePoint List A. I have a second form (form B) that I would like to have use responses submitted to SharePoint List A to populate this form (form B) (and thus a SharePoint List B).

For example, form A has an ID # associated with it. I am able to query that ID # from SharePoint List A to populate a drop down in form B, but I am not able to use that drop down selection as a filter for other fields later in form B. Do I need to create an intermediary list that creates "linked" fields (like a cascading drop down)? If so, how do I do this when data is going to be consistently added to SharePoint List A via submitted form As?

Ultimately, I am trying to reduce entering the same data across forms that happen in succession by porting in submitted information from form A into form B via filtering.

Repeating Table W/ Multiple Drop Down Selection Becomes Slow To Operate

Hi,

Apologies, I was not sure if this would be in InfoPath board or a data connection problem.

I have an info path form running on 2013 that opens from a SharePoint site on the desk top. This has multiple repeating tables each connected to a SharePoint list that are hidden to allow the user to add in or remove if applicable. All the tables work fine (i.e. service attached), no matter how many lines are added apart from two "Hire Tables, also attached", which are a little more complicated.

The heading for the hire are "Description" / "ESN Code" / "Price" / "No.Days" / "Qty" / "Total Qty" / "Total".

The description is selected first which has 4x prices available. The price is then populated by the ESN code selected. The Number of days and qty is input by the user and then the form calculates the total qty and total.

Problem - When either of the hire tables are inserted and more than 5 lines are added, this has a huge effect on the form operating. every single addition of data takes longer and longer. When 30 lines are added this could be 1-2min awaiting the form to refresh even if the lines are left blank. This includes inputting data to No.Days and Qty. It is like it is trying to save or backup or cross check the data online each time something is done.

Is there a way or method of speeding this up so the form just runs off the desktop and then refresh all the data at the end once saved to an online list instead of trying to refresh every single time?

Or Is this solely because of the cascading drop down? It is only the two tables with cascading drop down that appear to have this issue.

It appears to only let me upload 1x item at a time so i have uploaded the hire table that is making the form slow down. The service is the same but without the following headers: "ESN Code" / "No.Days" / "Total Qty".
Thanks

Then is equal to and in the third dropdown, use a formula. In the formula, you'd pick the abbreviation from data source A and add a filter - in that filter, you'd select the region in data source A is equal to the selected region in the form. Hope that makes sense. :)

Re: Cascading dropdowns with multiple data sources

Does the data source for A contain the abbreviation? If so, this can be done, but the filter is a little more complex. When you add the filter to drop down B, you'll add a filter where the region abbreviation is equal to the region abbreviation in the data source for A where the full region name is equal to the region selected in the form. It sounds a lot more awful than it actually is - attach a copy of your form under the options tab in a reply if you'd like a hand. :)

Storing Display name in a field and promoting it

I am working on a form that has cascading drop down lists, but the issue is that once the form is submitted, the database shows the number ID instead of the text. I know this is because value is set as ID and the Display Name is set as Title, but that is the only way the cascading drop down lists will work since it utilizes lookup values. I read that I could potentially fix the problem by storing the Display Name in a field and promoting that field when publishing the form, but I don't understand how to do this. If someone could give a step-by-step explanation on how to do so, it would be very helpful.

Also, will promoting that stored field hide the column that shows the ID number?

The amount of data that was returned by a data connection has exceeded the maximum limit that was configured by the server administrator. Form elements, such as drop-down lists, may be blank.

I am using cascading dropdowns to try and filter the data down so that only the respective items show based on the filters, however that is not working.

My question is can i have multiple xml files associated to the dropdown and just break apart the xml into smaller pieces and then once the specific criteria is met just display that?

Would i have to add a bunch of dropdowns and set rules that when something matches it displays?

I am open for any suggestion at this point.

The form is to large to attach or I would.
