That didn't work, but I may have found a work around with workflow.

I am using InfoPath for a SharePoint 2010 list. The formatting in edit mode of the list item is how I want it to look, but if I open the item in read only the outline of the text box control or the my picture buttons do not show up. Any idea how to get those to show while just viewing the item?

I'm not understanding how adding another data connection will help when I am trying to filter my data based on the person field in the form.

I like the idea of populating the person field and I think I will use that idea in the form, but I am looking to populate other fields based on the input of that person field. I am able to automatically fill in fields by who is filling out the form, but how can filter the "GetUserProfileByName" by a people field that is in the from?
This way we can have a form filled out by someone else and have the form auto populated for another person.

Is this still the best option for pre-populating user information in InfoPath 2010? The date of this post was in 2008.

I figured out how to do this with a list, but using a list has limited actions. Like no repeating tables or multiple file attachment actions.
