So I was making some changes to my InfoPath forms involving validation to a specific pattern, and when I published it there was a 3-character restriction that wasn't part of any rule or validation I had set. The testers notified me of this and I verified it.
I removed all rules and all restrictions, both for the text box as well as the ...

Thank you Hillary. Just before you responded I figured out I was doing something really stupid: had the drop-down set to "Matches pattern" instead of "Does not match pattern."
It had been a while and I was a little 'rusty' coming back to InfoPath.
Best regards and thanks again for responding!

So I am trying to do some basic authentication for the final year or so of our InfoPath tools, and am running into two very curious issues.
The first field needs to always be a three-letter combination, to stand for city location (i.e. TWB). I have the authentication rule set to "must match pattern" and the pattern is this: ...

I have an existing SharePoint/InfoPath/Power BI tool that has been in use for years in North America, and I have been instructed to roll it out globally. The existing tool is HUGE and I am quite certain I am near absolute capacity (column-wise) with 280 columns, so the one section that I think is most likely to require additions to suit legal ...

I have a field that gets its data from a field in another SharePoint list. That field either has ONE value or is blank.
I took the easy way and made it a combo box with a tooltip that says "If the drop-down is blank (does not display a value) manually enter a 1," but the testers are putting in stupid numbers like 100 ...

I recently added a new column (number format) to the data connection, and when published and trying to open to new instance of the form the data connection failed as too big (the source ...

SORRY! Just figured it out. On the DATA tab, SharePoint Form Data region, click Refresh Fields. Works perfectly!

When you open an Infopath file in Design mode it checks the state and order of columns on the actual site. If there is a mismatch it informs you then prompts if you want to update the fields in Infopath to match, or overwrite the state on SharePoint.
Is there a way to reproduce this behavcior without shutting Infopath down and then re-opening it?

I'm sorry, please disregard this. I am new to rule-based authentication and didn't realize there was an ability from the toolbar to select the authentication type. Once I redid them using this feature the issue resolved itself with only one exception, but I suspect tht is because I have two different drop-downs writing to the same Field ...
