• "There was an error in the custom validation code." Can't open form at all

I'm receiving an error I'm unfamiliar with when attempting to open a form: InfoPath cannot open the following file: [file name]. There wan an error in the custom validation code. [Show Details] -> The data in this control has been digitally signed and cannot be changed. As you can see, no useful specifics are given, and once the ...

  • re: Full Trust Forms - IP Filler Setting

Hi Hillary. Can you speak at all on the security considerations of allowing full-trust forms to be run on a computer when the form template has been digitally signed by a trusted author? Currently full-trust forms are flat-out disabled on our workstations and this setting can only be changed by a system administrator. I'm trying to come up with a ...

  • Can a SharePoint List contain InfoPath forms, and manually entered list items?

Is it possible to store InfoPath forms with exposed public fields, AND manually-entered list items (with the same fields) in the same list? If so, how can this be achieved?

  • Do custom InfoPath User Controls absolutely have to be registered with the COM interop?

Is it possible to design a custom User Control using C# in VSTA for InfoPath without registering it with the COM interop? It's not a control that I'm going to use on any other form, but I have a very specific functionality in mind. I'm still writing the user control to conform to all the security standards etc. The problem ...

  • Re: Domain Permission Level error

This issue had a deceptive error message for me. Though it was complaining about permission levels, the real problem was that the form wasn't where it thought it was. My problem was (recreatably) caused by saving the form template to one location, and then moving that .xsn file to a different location (a SharePoint directory, for instance) ...

  • Re: Bizarre Submit Behavior

I set up a test environment for the user with one form that was a copy of the current production form that has the email settings enabled, and one form with the email settings all turned off. I set up similar forms that were both emailed to her as the others would have been (using the same SharePoint workflow, in fact). She tested them both. I was ...

This user has submitted two forms like this to us, and I'm fairly certain that this is a reliable failure on her own machine; I don't know, however, what would happen if she tried a different machine. I'll run some tests today. Thanks, Hilary

  • Re: Bizarre Submit Behavior
Any chance the user in question has an old version of the form that does have an email submit connection in it cached on his / her machine?
No, we have a version number within the form data; it's current. A little bit of an update. I found in my InfoPath 2010 settings two options ...

  • Re: Bizarre Submit Behavior

If only I were allowed to do so, I would. I'll take another look at everything, but I'm 99.9% positive that this form template contains no instructions to send anything as an email. I double-checked my data connections box; no email connections there. And no issues for any other users using the form. I'm at a loss.
