Does anyone know how peformance compares when retrieving data from SQL DB vs a SharePoint list? If I have choice where to pull secondary data from, which should I choose? When should I include the data in the form itself?
TIA

I have 6 columns, 4 are entry: current hours , current dollars, proposed hours, proposed dollars, and 2 are calculated (total hours and total dollars). There are subtotals at the bottom of each column, additional calculations below the subtotals that multiply the subtotals by markup factors.

I have a repeating table with about 40 rows getting default values automatically populated from the xml file. When I start adding data to the columns there is quite a bit of action on the screen as the subtotal calculations occur in the footer of the table. Is there any way to control this?

Thanks for the information, I guess what I'd really like to know is how to provide the user the appropriate instructions when they don't have IP installed e.g., have a message box pop up telling them what to do. Is something like this possible from a SharePoint forms library?

I tried to change the print margins for a view, got an error that they had been exceeded for the paper size and now when I click on View Properties, I get InfoPath has encountered an error. The operation failed. I get this same error when I try to create a new view and when I go to Page Setup. Any ideas how I can fix this?

How can I create a filter for a dropdown list so that items ending in 0 are not shown? (I have a 4 digit code and do not want the users to see items such as 9120, but they should see 9121 and 9119)
Thanks
