However, I don't want everyone to see everyone else's travel reports. Can sharepoint be used like a DB? Also, I "might" have access to a shared DB, but I would have to jump through some hoops to get there. Everyone should have infopath, but I was hoping to send the form via email and ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 01-29-2013 Best way to collect data...not HOW to collect data I am new to collecting data. In the past, I simply submitted to an XML file and formatted it with an XSL. However, I have a project where I will have 20 employees submit a travel report each week with attached receipts. There is no central database, but I can run one on my own laptop. So, my question is: What is the best way to gather the data? ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 01-28-2013 Repeating Tables I have a date picker control and a text control. Is there a way to set a date and a number of day and have infopath fill in a repeating table with sequential dates? For example, I choose Jan 1, 2013 and "5" days. It should then create new rows with Jan 1, then Jan 2, then Jan 3, then jan 4, and then Jan 5. Thanks! I am creating spreadsheets and html pages to discplay my xml data but it is slow going, trial and error to get it to look right. A tool like infopath would be great. Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-25-2012 Re: Iterate resource file and select a node if it falls between two dates Wow, you have been so helpful. Thank you. Yes, I did understand what you said, but when I said that I did not want to update the rates without having to change the form template, what I meant is that I didn't want to have to open the Default Values and set them all by hand every time they changed. Depending on how I end up using this, ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-24-2012 Re: Iterate resource file and select a node if it falls between two dates So, it says that "Connections to XML files on the local computer are supproted only in fully-trusted form templates." That is just as well, since I want to mail this to people and don't want to send the data file with it. So, I updated the file, but it still does not work. When I export the file or save the form, the data ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-24-2012 Re: Iterate resource file and select a node if it falls between two dates Ok, I fixed the 2012-09-31 issue. Yes, the data types are set to Date. I am not sure how to answer your final question. I imported an external xml file into a resource file. I am not sure however I got the terminology correct so I attached my form. If you could look at it that would be great. Thanks, Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-24-2012 Re: Iterate resource file and select a node if it falls between two dates Ok, I think I am almost there. At least it cant find errors in the formulas. However, it does not show rates. I "think" it has to do with the date format. Here is what I have in my resource.xml file that is used to populate the default values: <PerDiem> <Rate start="2011-10-1" ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-24-2012 Iterate resource file and select a node if it falls between two dates I have imported a resource file and have set a bunch of default values that have rates and when they begin and when they end. In my form, I need to pick a date, and I would like to run through my default values and choose a rate if my date falls between the start and end dates. For example, I could choose 10/15/2012. So it looks at the list and ... Posted to Newbie Questions (Forum) by barichter on 10-23-2012 Re: Including static xml data in infopath form Ok, it took my a while to replicate. I didn't realize that it was putting in the default "my:" namespace and so the formulas wouldn't work until I figured that out. So, now can I have a rule that iterates the rates and populates a control on the form with the correct rate depending on the calendar date of the expense. Then I ...
