Yes, it can wait till Sunday. I don't want to send tasks to students - just want to send them a link to a InfoPath webform, which will be pre-populated with data from my data list based on their name. They will then update whatever tasks they need to and save the form to the Forms library.  Would appreciate greatly a working ...

Can't get Jo-Anne's example to work :(((( Besides I think it's not going to work for web-based forms anyway. I'm at a point where I think to give up on using InfoPath for this, cause it seems too hard.

Patrick, Thank for your suggestions.I guess I don't have to keep the tasks and their completion details in one (input) list - i.e. the input can contain just the task desc, student name and due date, and my form will copy this and add completion details. I'm happy to purchase qRules if it saves me time. I'll try to figure it out ...

Thanks for this clarification. 1 student has multiple tasks assigned to him/her. I will pre-create individual forms for each student, and provide a direct link to each student so they can only update their own tasks. That's my main requirement - being able to pre-create these forms and have students being able to update only their tasks ...
