But thats the thing, I want to eventually elevate these fields. The name of the data source is the one that is visible in Shareopint. So is there a way i can change the name of the data source without losing data?

We are trying to update an infopath form that already has elevated fields to Sharepoint. Some field names need to be changed and we are worried that all previously filled-out forms will lose the data attached to that field. Is there a way I can change the name of fields without losing the data from the previous versioned names?
