    I there any way to  have the thrid level list as a bulleted list? I can show it in a list box, but it does not look too nice for printing out. An the third level list should all be visible they are read only.

    OK, as usual, as soon as I ask the question, I see the problem. My final filter was comparing the group not the item. Changed it and now it is fine.

    that worked, however I think I should have given the structure of the datasource which is probably effecting it , will attach it.   OK i know hte attach option is here somewhere, can't find it, so have a link instead

    thanks for your reply. I will take a look at your solution tomorrow at work and let you know. I know some of the third levels dont have options, but try as I might I could not get any at all to list, even those that definitely should have. No doubt I will have got some filter wrong somewhere.
