The validation messages and required field message displayed by Forms Server are fugly so we used a bunch of rules, a reference "error" attribute and a bit of xpath on a custom submit button to make things look better. The problem is the customer ... Posted to Code (Forum) by Jonesie on 09-14-2008 Re: userName() blank Thanks, but we are using a custom provider - which I think is the source of the problems. Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-11-2008 Re: userName() blank Oh, and I dont think this will work as userName() is returning a blank string in web mode so Application.User.UserName will probably be the same. Instead I will pass a parameter from the web part that launches the form. Ah, but crap, that wont work either as I need to write code to do that. Cheers Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-11-2008 Re: userName() blank Hi It's not that I'm afraid of coding but a) it will make the process require a developer which we are trying to avoid and b) InfoPath is the worst development tool imaginable. The UI is so incredibly poor it's only a passable forms editor. Who ever thought of allowing managed code in these things should be shot! Cheers Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-11-2008 Re: userName() blank I tried it and it blew up when I tried to view a UDC or create a new one. Needs a bit more work I think... Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-11-2008 Re: XPath to get multiple attribute values Oh, doh! eval(eval(descendant-or-self::node()/@error, 'concat(../@my:error, ";")'), "..") This is better, but not consistant. If I have a blank field this causes my rules to set an erorr message which is found by this expression. If I enter alpha chars into a integer field this causes some other validation ... Posted to General (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-10-2008 Re: XPath to get multiple attribute values Hi again I tried using eval in the default value: xdMath:Eval(/descendant-or-self::node()/@my:error, 'concat(@my:error, ";")') and all I got was a single semi-colon in the field. Also tried using text() in the concat with the same result. Looks promising though... Thanks Posted to General (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-10-2008 Re: userName() blank Hi I don't have a UDC setup for this form yet as I found them a PITA to create. Your tools might make this easier tho. I have a feeling I might have fiddled with proxy settings also... will check that. Cheers Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-10-2008 userName() blank Hi The setup: InfoPath form in forms services. WSS site using Forms Auth with a custom provider Web service to expose user details When my form loads I want to pre-populate some fields with the current user details. In the form load rules I query the web service and use the userName() to pass as the single parameter to the ... Posted to Browser Forms (Forum) by Jonesie on 02-10-2008 XPath to get multiple attribute values Hi We have a complex multipart form that is implenented using Form Services. The validation error messages display by Forms Services are, shall we say, less than desirable. We also need to save forms in a DRAFT state without validations AND I dont want to use any managed code. So we have come up with a method of displaying an error ...
