InfoPath Dev

I know that documentation is generally the last thing on a developers mind but has anyone developed a Detailed Design Document for documenting how your InfoPath forms are designed?

We are using the InfoPath form to populate a SharePoint list. Does InfoPath save the value temporarily in XML until it is saved?

I am trying to create a button on a form that would simply save the document and close it.
