There seems to be some inconsistency with the conditional formatting. I had tried it, but the formatting is lost when i open the form in design mode again. I dont know why this was happening.. so i was wondering if there was an alternative solution

Forget that, it was the DB peoples problem. Ive got to remember to check that a query returns a value before I try to implement it.
