I find that copying / pasting from Word creates nightmarish HTML - which may have been your issue there. If for some reason you don't wish to compose your post in the browser, I'd use a simple text editor.

So, the parent list is a list? Or a form library?
Just trying to understand if you are using a SharePoint List form in InfoPath?
I'm wondering - I can't recall if calculated columns are available with a standard list connection in InfoPath. If you are using SharePoint 2010, though, I bet the OData service would return your calc'd ...

Hi - InfoPath should already do this for you. You can add the new fields to your existing template, and under the Form Options, set the form to upgrade existing XML. You can even preview your form with some existing XML to see how it will behave (info here). Then, when someone opens the existing XML, it gets the new fields.

You'd have to make edits to the form files - really, it would be faster just to re-create the schema from scratch in the data view task pane in a new blank form.

You should be able to use a calculated value control with the XPath to the field in your secondary data source. You may also be able to just drag the field from your secondary data source onto the form - if I ...

Hi - when you say you display the name, time and location in text boxes on the form - what are those text boxes bound to? Are you using rules to populate fields in your main data source with the data from the secondary data source? As Anson mentions, InfoPath is only going to save data from the main data source.
It sounds to me as if you are ...

It actually sounds to me as if you want the same scenario to occur in all instances - if there is just one option, default to that, and if there are many options, default to the first - since the first case (only one option) is equivalent to the second case, this is really straightforward. Just set the default value of your main data source field ...

It is interesting - if I try to edit your post, and look at the HTML, there are no paragraph tags.
I use IE 9 - it has a compatibility view that sometimes helps certain sites behave better - does Google Chrome have any options like that?
