Hi Donovan,
This should be easy with conditional formatting. Put conditional formatting on the step2 checkbox that ''Disables this control'' if ''step1'' ''is equal to'' ''FALSE''.
Do the same for the step3 checkbox, but check to see if the step2 is FALSE.

You could implement an OnBeforeChange event handler that counts the number of rows that are already in the form, and then if it is greater than 4, cancel the insert.
I would think this would be a slightly easier way of doing it instead of modifying the schema. Although it does use code and Agni's solution doesn't.

This sounds like a job for the data filters provided by InfoPath.
For the first problem, please check out this HowTo:http://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=51dce616335a4ff6a78f2d289baf4651

InfoPath 2007, however, promises to bring much better web-based ...

Hi Devyani and welcome to the forum!
The reason you would want to integrate this functionality into InfoPath are various. It all just depends on the situation. InfoPath provides much greater control over how to the form looks and behaves, so a good reason to implement in InfoPath is you want to add help screens or data validation.
As to the ...
