Hello,
It should work the way you're describing it, and I just tried this for myself and it worked just fine.
Could you describe exactly how you're trying to do this, exactly what rules you are using and in what order? A screenshot of the rule actions could also be good.

Ok, there's the problem. Please try this:
@ows_LinkTitle[../@ows_ID = current()]

In your formula windows, could you click Show XPath to show what the expanded XPath is, and paste them here?

Why not put the dropdown box right in the repeating table?

I'm having trouble following your formula, but I would think this would be enough:
xdMath:Eval(xdMath:Eval(xdXDocument:GetDOM("TA")/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:SharePointListItem_RW[d:Active = string(true())], 'concat(d:email, ";")'), "..")
-
avg((Field1 | Field2 | Field3 | ...)[. != ''])
should do the trick

Is there any possibility you could modify your data source so that ...

The problem here is that translate() will only be applied to the first preceding or following sibling, and the validation would only work if the duplicates were right next to each other.
You can use eval() to apply a function across all nodes in a set, and it should work here. Please try this:
translate(., ...

Yes, this makes sense. Rich Text boxes are essentially HTML and line breaks in HTML don't mean anything when it is actually rendered. There is probably not a way to put line breaks in a rich text box with just rules.

Hi dapklp,
Thanks for the very detailed clarification. Could you check your text box's properties to make sure that the multiline option is enabled? Is this a browser form? I think I remember there being a limitation with displaying multiline values on browser forms.
