I am trying to Automate Time Sheets for the company. Currently users fill out a paper form and submit their Timesheet to HR.

I#%92m not trying to change the Label of a button; the label will stay static.
I would like to use a button to open another form (which is easy to do with rules) but at the same time I would also like to pass some values from a specific row of the repeating table where you clicked the button to open that second form.

So you are getting a new page per row? This should not be the case. I know the article was written for InfoPath 2003. Are you using 2007? If so, there could be an issue in the article between the two versions. Let me know. If you are on 2003, try following through the article a second time to see if that fixes the issue.

I know that documentation is generally the last thing on a developers mind but has anyone developed a Detailed Design Document for documenting how your InfoPath forms are designed?

Sorry for the delay, I'd been dragged onto another project...
I can't debug the session on this PC for some reason. I'm having a nightmare with this dev environment, I'll try to sort that out and get back to you.
