This sounds like a networking issue. Can you access any other files with similiar URLs? Is the computer in the correct domain?

Your InfoPath form is simply taking the decimal number and applying some formatting to it. If you look at the XML only the number will be stored there, not the currency symbol and field seperators.
One suggestion would be to have another, seperate, field that applies and stores the formatting to the currency as a string so that when you promote ...

Glad you got everything working and that we were able to help! In general, you can usually find a ''conversion'' FAQ that will help you convert examples from one language to another. I have found that although there are subtle differences such as semicolons and loop control structures, the majority of the format is the same.

I just discovered another bug that happens with this:
If you have a preview of the project open and then go to wherever you published (in my case, SharePoint) and try to open the form to fill out, then it will give the same error.
