Hey David
Thanx for your reply. I just have a question about this:
Then you can introduce a numeric field in your data source (either main or auxiliary).
Can't I just store it in a unbound textbox on the form, is unbound texboxes even possible.
In my opinion saving the "current" tab in a connection sounds like heavy ...

My ddl resides in a column of a repeating table. How do I use the preceding-sibling and following-siblings? Does the filter have to be applied to the ddl or the repeating table?
Thanks

Repeating tables are only a visual representation of the XML data they are bound to.
To add a new row, use your code to insert a new row into the XML DOM.
So, for example if you have:
<Table>
<Row attr1="" attr2="" attr3=""/>
<Row attr1="" ...

You are trying to get to a property of a null object: {NODE}.text, where {NODE} is the selectSingleNode stuff, and the .text is the property on that node.
If {NODE} is null, then accessing .text is invalid.
So your test should be:
if (selectedNode.selectSingleNode("Translation") == null)

Is this in a repeating section/table or just a single field? That makes a big difference.
If it is just a single field, then you just filter the list to show when the value does not equal the selected value in the field that the ddl is bound to.
Repeating sections work similarly, but are more complicated because you have to use ...

It's just a secondary data source either way, whether an XML file or a SharePoint list. So it doesn't make much of a difference.
The SP list will likely have a different structure/hierarchy than the custom XML file you are using now, so you have to account for that... but the concept is identical no matter what the source.

If you have 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 1 the answer is 4 :)

Hi my I am using auto sum in a column for a repeating table. It works fine for adding but when I change the number to a negative it the answer does not add up. Example, I have 6 rows each have number 1 in the text box = 6. When I change one number to a negative, I end up with 4 should be 5.
Any ideas what is happening?
