You could try clearing your InfoPath cache - here's a bit of info on that. You could also try getting an update of the form - what version of InfoPath are you running?

InfoPath is mean like this.
What we do is have two sections in the active view (the one that we can email). We add a true / false (boolean) field named something like "isEmailing" and default it to false.
Then, in conditional formatting, hide one section if isEmailing is false, the other section if isEmailing is true. All the controls ...

What do your rules look like? Can you attach a sample form (under the options tab) that shows what you are trying to do? Sometimes I have trouble understanding a written explanation, but get the point better with a sample form. :-)

I'm so glad you were able to work through this! You've learned some things that are going to help you troubleshoot - conditional formatting can be a bear when the values have been obfuscated by formatting - like you were seeing with the dates. Good luck with your future InfoPath endeavors, and post again if you get stuck.

Well, first off, you aren't dense, you are new. Some of these initial concepts can be pretty confusing. If you keep in mind that your data may be different from the presentation, that will help. For example, a decimal could be displayed as currency: $4.00, but the value would still be 4.00 (no $ sign!)
You do need to preview the form to enter ...

I think I maybe wasn't clear.
Changing the formatting won't change the value. I just wanted you to be able to see the actual value, to help you figure out what was going on. So when you change the format, that's all you are changing - how the data is displayed. The value will still be what you saw when you changed it to a text box. I ...

Sometimes we just don't get our data back in our form in the format we'd expect. So, drag the field onto the form (like you did above), go ahead and delete the time field, and change the date picker to a text box (right click and change the control). Right click the text box (which should be bound to your field) and under Properties, click ...

You could use rule conditions -- but it would probably be easier if you used a secondary data source for your drop down that included the value you want to set your other field to. I'm attaching a simple sample - download it, then right click the saved file and select design to open in design mode. From there, you can preveiw, and select an ...

The date probably includes time information. You can see the actual data if you put a control on your form bound to the field you are comparing to, then format it to show the XML value of the date - it is probably something like "2012-05-10 00:00:00". If your end date was including time, you may see a different behavior than you ...

Hi -
The sample forms have locked schemas. They can be unlocked, but it is pretty complicated - it may be easier to just start with a new blank form.
Google translate:
Les exemples de formulaires ont verrouillé schémas. Ils peuvent être débloqués, mais il est assez compliqué - il peut être plus facile de commencer avec un nouveau ...
