• Re: GetCommonManager

I explained exactly how to do that. My entire example centers around displaying the Manager's email address using both web services. It works like a charm for me the way I described it.

• Re: GetCommonManager

I hadn't done this in a while, so I just tested it again to be sure. This is what I'm doing: 1) Using GetProfileByName and GetCommonManager in the same form. 2) Upon opening the form, I let the logged-in user's AccountName send itself by default to the two web services. 3) The resulting datasets show the profile data of my ...

• Re: GetCommonManager

After getting the manager from the GetProfileByName, you send that same piece of data to the GetCommonManager, and it returns a data set of relevant info just like the previous method. You retrieve the data the same way - there should be no filtering. Just remember to pass the manager's username to the GetCommonManager as a query ...

• Re: Removing the "tooltips" from a browser-enabled form?

I get rid of them by not requiring the field in the settings, and then I place conditional formatting on my submit button that makes it disabled if all required fields are not filled out. This may or may not work for some, but it's my preference instead of the annoying tooltips that overlay my labels half the time.

• Re: Email manager(s) based on multiple selection list-box

I'm not sure about an AD service, but you can use the User Profile Service (GetProfileByName method) to retrieve the manager username for a user(s), and then you can use the same service (Manager method) to retrieve the Manager's email address. To do this, you have to be able to submit the user's name and the manager's ...
• Re: Turn of and on views based on checkboxes

Set conditional formatting on the controls in question, and hide/show them based on the check box selections. You wouldn't need another view necessarily, but if you want to make it clean, then have a second view that has all the available controls but only shows the ones that are relevant per the check boxes on the intial view and switch ...

• Re: auto fill other fields

Yeah, you have to filter based on some unique field - that was the bottom of step 5 above. The part about returning the user to the form library should be automatic unless I'm missing something. I only use browser forms, and when mine are submitted or saved/closed, it returns the user to the form library. I actually use custom ...

• Re: auto fill other fields

Lew, you have to set the dropdown list to display the words you want but to have the VALUE of whatever the unique identifier is for that list. You then use that unique identifier to specify which data goes into the other fields.

• Re: Print View in views dropdown

Go to the properties of that view and deselect the check box stating such.

• Re: I can't access all fields from my SharePoint library in Infopath

Then use a custom list instead of a doc lib, because doc libs have both Name and Title with Name being the actual filename, and Title being the piece of metadata that tells you the "name" of the file. There is no reason to use a doc lib for pictures, so use a custom list where the name is the title, and see if that works.
