Hi, we basically inherited this InfoPath form from someone who'd already built the whole form w/o a database connection.
What they wanted to do is just add an autoincrement to a textbox on the top of the form to help identify the form easier.
Since I can't really get a data connection through the form, but could through the code-behind ...

You would need an installabel, full trust form which had the code to create a task assignment.
A better solution or work around might be just to email notify the editor, via the built in InfoPath submit, and then come up with a quick process for converting it to a new task within Outlook, maybe with a rule or something.

If you have code that goes outside of InfoPath is requires full trust and creating an installable form.
the Alert() function, in the InfoPath model, should do what you want and will not break trust.

You definetly can merge these seperate data elements and put them into a consistent (7 page) document. You can also abstract it so that the user can verify or input the required elements as easily as possible and then they can switch to the print view that ...

I have an InfoPath form, and when the user clicks a button, we'd like to populate the textbox with a sequential autonumber, and it will be prefixed by a determined string....say "ABC".
So, the first person to click the button will get the textbox populated with the value ...
