You might be able to put it all into one button with multiple rules.
Submit
Then change status
then submit again.
If the first submit fails the rest of the rules will not be processed.

I would check everything. There is not a good reason why one would work and the other would not. Verify your buttons are as similar as possible. Also that some validation is not hanging it up.

You can try creating a new form and base it on the XML from Word and see what you get.
Also you could try adding a data connection to your form and ude the xml file as the source and see if InfoPath can parse it.

Hi Clay:) Thanks for the reply.
I did try saving the Word form as XML but man what a mess when I look at it in notepad.
I wasn't sure how I'd "harvest it" or pull it into the new form. I'd appreciate any ideas you have for me. By the way I'm using Office 2003.

I have you tried saving the word file as XML?
Then you could have an InfoPath form based on that XML or could harvest it and pull it into the new form.

It worked! Thanks Greg. I'm learning this as I go, and it seem like the more I learn the more dangerous I get.

Is there a easy way to migrate old MS Word forms that use Text form Fields into Infopath Fields?
What I'm looking to do is to take only the data stored in the Word Text Form Fields and dump it into the new form created in Infopath.
Is that possible?

If I add a new Form Content Type to a Document Library in WSS 3.0, can I use this with InfoPath 2003? if so how? According to the MSDN documentation, the Form Content Type was created so that a Document Libary could contain Forms and other documents, but I can't figure out how to make this work. Any advice would be greatly ...

Typically you would need data that has all of the elements.
I will use an example country, state, city.
Three dropdowns which cascade to drill down from country to states within that country and then cities within that state.
You data could look like.
USA WA Seattle
USA WA ...

Two thoughts:
1. Maybe the form template is pointing to the right web service in the data connection, but to the wrong server?
2. Verify that there is not some strange error in the UDC file. What it completely auto-generated, or was there any manual editing done to it?
