Thank you for the offer. I'm going to play around to see what I can figure out for now, but I'm sure I will be back with questions before long.

Hi,

there is very scarse information to be found on how to pass a parameter to a secondary webservice - that is set up as a webservice- so i cant get my head around the correct syntax

Thanks! Email sent!
ps - it does seem odd to me that it appears to have it's own default view it goes to, overriding what is marked as default. Kind of a pain. lol

I believe you are right with the new record and run query buttons. I never use these and instead execute a query from an action on my own button or requery with a bogus value to "reset" the fields to blank.
Much of the standard functionality is very basic and only works for simple examples or has limitations as you create more ...

I too am very new to InfoPath and Sharepoint. I am also trying to query a SP list in InfoPath, since the overhead becomes too burdensome once all the items in the lists are retrieved (1600). And the form becomes unmanegeable.
If you would not mind explainign how to set up your routine on the server I would greatly appreciate ...

thanks!
The formula method I would normally use in my web development (php, cold fusion, lasso) would be to do a row_number() mod 2. But, we don't have the operator "mod" available it seems. That makes it difficult.

Clay,
I'm familiar with setting the "Default" view in the task
pane. This, however, doesn't seem to hold true when you create a form
from a database. It seems to "over ride" that. I have done tests on 4
different forms now, creating from scratch. It doesn't take the
"default" ...

Thank you for the speedy response.
Looks like that did the trick, and after a quick Permissions Wizard in the IIS control panel, I can see the DBXL control panel in my browser.
Just to confirm, I had previously re-initialized ASP.NET (I was getting the 405 error), but that hadn't resolved the ASPNET permissions issue.
Now to get started on ...
