What guess was correct? To provide a tree, you can just do it in text kind of like I did it above.
Also - your drop-down list uses the ID field as the ''value'' right? Make sure that your display name is ''Title''.

Could you provide a tree of your data source? I think it looks like this:
Cost_Code
--Cost_Code
--ID
--Title
And if so, you're XPath should be this:
xdXDocument:GetDOM(''Cost Code'')/dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/dfs:Cost_Code/@Cost_Code[../@ID = current()]

Hi Karsten!
I think you should be able to apply this HowTo to your situation:http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=9537788650654904a6b60e35f58bcccf
Let me know how it goes, this is an interesting scenario!

If you know what a value of the drop-down is going to be, you can do this, but if you don't know what they're going to be at design time (which is what it sounds like your dealing with), then you won't be able to do this. Instead, you could use rules or code.
Rules:
Tools -> Form Options -> Open and Save -> Rules
Add Action -> Set a ...

Referencing this thread:http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=273&SearchTerms=wscript,activex
You could do something like this:
var filename = XDocument.DOM.selectSingleNode( ''/my:myFields/my:filename'' );
var Shell = new ActiveXObject(''WScript.shell'');
var strCMD = ''notepad.exe '' + filename;
var oExec = ...

Does it have to be Access? If you want to dump your data into a SQL DB you could use our Database Accelerator product:http://qdabra.com/proddetail.asp?prod=QDBXL1
Other than that it might be that you need to create another form, but I do not fully understand your situation.

Congratulations on getting everything working!

Hi JMark, welcome to the forum, and sorry for the delayed response!
It sounds like something has been corrupted after you have changed your CAML template. Try stepping through the add data connection wizard again to redo everything.

If you double-click the button control in the designer and then go to the Advanced tab you should notice a Screentip box there. Type whatever you want to see as ''hovering text'' there and I think you will be satisfied with the results.
I hope this helps, and it will be much easier than the technique you mention!
