Hm, I really don't think you will be able to do this. You can attach to the object model of the opened form, so I would suggest making an ''invisible trigger field'' with an OnAfterChange event attached to it. Then, from the calling form, change the value of this field (via the object model). This should trigger the OnAfterChange, and then you ...

Here's what I do to debug forms in IP.
1. Make sure you are in Debug build mode.
2. Close any open ''previews'' of the form. (I don't think this is absolutely necessary)
3. Open the Solution Explorer
4. Click on the Form Project icon (two ''folders'' above FormCode.cs)
5. Press F5
This will open a preview of the form and start the FormCode.cs in ...

Hm, I'm not sure that you will be able to do this with InfoPath's SQL abilities - they seem to be a bit limited. However, take this advice with a grain of salt as I am not even close to being a SQL expert, and can't honestly say that I know what an ''implied Inner Join'' is.
What I would do is make two seperate data connections to both tables ...

Hm, that looks right, but current() can get tricky sometimes. What I like to do to debug is to put the formula local-name(current()) into the node that you are trying to use this formula with and then you will know exactly what node you are dealing with and how you should reference your aCostCentre node.

I'm glad you could figure it out Senor Villareal!

I agree with Abhishek here, this could probably be done with XPath, but it's going to take 5x the amount of time to figure it out than just using code. If code is not an option, you could, of course, concoct some crazy XSL+XPath to do this.

I don't understand your problem here, Taffman. You say it's working great and then you go to another view and it's different? Are you performing any actions on the node while switching views? Are you using an expression box or actually storing the numbering a node?

I used this formula to get rid of one of the &s, maybe you could cook up something with eval() to do it recursively?
concat(substring-before(field4, ''&''), ''and'', substring-after(field4, ''&''))

Sorry to insult your intelligence, Dean. :)
This is a rather interesting problem, and I think I have solved it with this formula:
concat(''0'', field1) + concat(''0'', field2)
The problem was that the node wasn't blank, it just wasn't present. So, tacking a zero to the most significant digit will allow the nodes that are not present to simply ...

Hi lightman and welcome to the forum!
What exactly do you mean when you say ''validation engine''? The schema files for the Main DOM and all of the 2DSs are stored within the XSN and I'm sure InfoPath uses something from the System.Xml namespace to do the validation. What exactly are you trying to figure out?
