Thanks! I'll give this a whirl and see what I come up with.

Yes, please do send screen shots. I want to be sure you have foreign keys set for your child tables... :)

I am so happy you have been able to track it down!
You have different options with this. You could use rules for submit (that should be an option in your submit options) and first add an action to submit to the DB, then to submit using your email connection. If you only want your users to email, and you want to submit to the db yourself, you ...

Hi Hilary,
I'm sure I'm not articulating well enough and that's confusing us both. I do have it setup like you say, a Form_ID column mapped to the DocID. In my DAT Mapping and DB Table design, there is a column in every table called Form_ID this is to associate all the repeating ...

OK - I'm getting to the bottom of this now. Once I changed the memo to text and deleted my submit options, I was able to use the main connection to submit. However, it will only let me select "Database" under "Send form to a single destination" where I had been selecting "Email." Once I save the form, how do I ...

Well, mind you, I was just trying this by editing the SQL in a data connection in the data connection wizard... and then again in a direct query. Can't imagine why it would work differently in code, though. I'm assuming when you test the two different query strings, you are using the same parameters for {0}, year & month.... :)

That certainly throws a kink into things. When I insert the TOP expression, nothing is returned from the view. When I remove the TOP expression. values are returned. All I am doing is modifying the SQL statement. From this
const string queryString2 = "select * from [VIEW] where [FIELD1]='{0}' order by [YEAR] DESC ,[MONTH] ...

Well, if your relationship in your database is a one - to - many, you *should* be able to submit. That's why I keep trying to figure out why you can't. Your main table needs to have a primary key. Your child tables need to have a column that holds that primary key. Your InfoPath data connection needs to have that relationship defined (you ...

Yes, I've done a little more research and it looks like because I have multiple tables, I cannot use the main connection to submit. I don't know how to write the code to get it to work (after three programming classes, you'd think I could {grin}). It looks like web services is the way to go. I know basically nothing about that. Is ...

Actually, I got curious and just tested this -- I tried using TOP to query a view in SQL Server Management Studio and it returned the 5 rows, as specified. Then I tried this as a SQL receive data connection in an IP 2007 form (editing the SQL command) and again had 5 rows returned. Could something else be preventing you from seeing the data you ...
