As you have found, InnerXml does not exist in the 2003 InfoPath object model (which includes VBScript and JScript). If you want to obtain the node's inner xml, you can:
Use string processing to remove the start and end tags from xmlnode.xml
or
Iterate through through the nodes in xmlnode.childNodes and concatenate their xml ...

The kb requires programming inside a particular form template, which is not desired in my situation.
I want to know how to manipulate over the variables of a form after it renders into html, should have nothing to do with the template itself, using JavaScript.
