You shouldn't need a rule to tell it to query after opening. It should automatically query the DB and any other data connection automatically upon opening it. Did you not check that box on your data connection maybe? I don't use IP2003, so it's possible that it's just different.

Thank you Shiva and Swathip,
I have added the Display Name to the Web Service, so both the LocationID and Location appear as fields in the main data source.
However, I'm still unclear about how to add the rule to the LocationID so that the new form field Location gets populated.
This is what Swathip said -
You have to add the rule on ID ...

IP 2003 has the ability to save templates as source files. It is in the File menu of Design mode. You can also extract the file from Windows explorer by changing the file's extension to .CAB
Please try the attached form. It has the rule you described.

What I use is a back-end validation method that uses conditional formatting to disable my submit button until all required fields are ...

Thank you! There is a difference in actions on the submit button and the tools>submit options. It appears to work in my simple, dummy form, now I will try and add it to our work form, which is a more complex (more rules, options, etc.)
Thank you for all of your help.
