Well, I found that by adding a query tag in the manifest.xsf it will make it think that there is a primary data source. However, once you use the convert tool it changes the namespace and all the objects get unbound. Effectivley requiring me to re-build the form again.

When I was in the similar situation I've created additional column and populated it from a workflow. Workflow allows to do complex logical computations so I was able to filter by that column.

I am having the same problem. The form and form code has no errors. I can edit the form, sign it and publish it. I can even open the published form.
The only time I get the above error is if I try to debug the form in Visual Studio. I have infopath 2007, and VS 2008.

I think i may have found a viable workaround for this problem.
I created a hidden text box, that just copies the name from the Contact Selector and then submits the info from that hidden textbox to the sharepoint list. Now each entry maintains the seperate user names in the Last, First format i want it in.
