After getting the manager from the GetProfileByName, you send that same piece of data to the GetCommonManager, and it returns a data set of relevant info just like the previous method. You retrieve the data the same way - there should be no filtering. Just remember to pass the manager's username to the GetCommonManager as a query ...

I get rid of them by not requiring the field in the settings, and then I place conditional formatting on my submit button that makes it disabled if all required fields are not filled out. This may or may not work for some, but it's my preference instead of the annoying tooltips that overlay my labels half the time.

I'm not sure about an AD service, but you can use the User Profile Service (GetProfileByName method) to retrieve the manager username for a user(s), and then you can use the same service (Manager method) to retrieve the Manager's email address. That one client has Office 2007 and if I create a simple XSN that only has one button which submits via an email data connection that works. So, the form works for all clients, but one - and a simple email submit works ...

It's very possible that an easy answer to this can be derived if I knew how to properly reference the xPath of repeating sections (and each control therein)
I'll again start off by saying that I'm a brand new user to infopath. I've been browsing the site and searching the forums for a few days now, and I've found a lot ...

Man, it must be Monday, 'cause I just can't get this right. Again, browser compatibility!
This version doesn't use position(), it uses preceding-sibling, and the design checker is showing no errors for me....
