Is this a SharePoint List form? Is the field you are setting a lookup type? They need to be set to the item's ID usually. Otherwise, I'd just assume something is awry in the data types in your main schema.

I got it figured, I added a rule to query data connection before the the rule that sets the field with a condition that ID of this value matches the lookup field value. Now the form opens fast and queries for the data when users selects an item in the look up field. However I have a new issue, one of the field that populates gives me an error ...

Yes there is a system generated data connection by info path for the lookup field. I tried implementing Action rule on the lookup field using "set a field" action to push a value onto the other fields based on the selection in lookup field but it only shows only one particular value in two fields for all selections in the lookup field. ...

So, it sounds like you have a different data connection for the dropdown items. If so, you could just query for the data you need after the user makes each dropdown selection and use rules to set the fields instead of using defaults. You'd have to run the query for each row once the user selects a dropdown value, but that would limit the data ...

So even without the default is the form slow to load? I'm guessing you are using this other list to provide values to your dropdown? Or is that not the case?

All three columns data is saved in the same list. I have used default value method to calculate and populate the data but its taking too long to open the form as ...

I think you'll have to add a condition to your rules to check and see if you have a budget for the year. That may be a condition that checks the returned rows for the current budget year (using a contains condition) - if there are none, you could set the field to -001. So - two rules, one that runs if you find the year and one that runs if you ...
