You can't open it in design mode after saving locally? Usually you can at least right click the locally saved form and select design to see it in design mode... from there if you want to preview, sometimes setting the form to full trust temporarily will allow you to preview.

Hi - This is just one of those things in InfoPath that requires code, unfortunately, and it is hard to provide a generic example when the schemas in your form will likely vary quite a bit from any sample I can come up with.
That said, give this blog post a try, or try out the trial of qRules (which would allow you to not have to write your ...

I'm attaching a sample - save the file locally and then right click and select design so you can preview it and try it out. I used a secondary XML data source to put another field on the form for the user to type her "current" comments in - the main data source field then gets populated w/ the user name, now, comments, ...

I think you have to set the account id field in the people picker to a valid account Id - I don't think that you can populate it with an email address.
Put the fields associated with the people picker on the form and then you can experiment with what you need to set the fields to in order to have the people picker populate correctly. ...

So, in the form attached, I made some guesses for the mapping - it is already added as a resource file to the form and I added the data connection for it. Since you don't have your secondary data connection in place to provide data for your list boxes, it is sort of hard to show what I mean - I removed the mapping to the Title field - ...

Your mapping file is not valid XML - I'm not sure what you have going on in there - could you attach the file as created by the mapping tool? And let me know what the name of your library ...

Can you test your intended query in SQL Manager? That is to say - a like clause should work w/ 2 or more words - like '%East Lansing%'

You bet - sorry, I'm having a busy afternoon, but I'll take a look sometime today and get back to you...

Yes - that sounds like a good approach. Be sure you name your list columns exactly the same thing as your library uses - that is, if you have spaces in between words in the promoted properties in your library, be sure you have spaces in the columns in your dummy list. SharePoint generates fun internal names like ...

So, your issue is here:
XPathNavigator queryField = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator().SelectSingleNode("/dfs:myFields/dfs:queryFields/q:Provider_Info/@Provider_Name", NamespaceManager);
This is because your XPath is not a field in the main data source, so queryField is null. You need something like the below example, ...
