Hi Bob.
As part of the install, two new databases will be created in SQL Express.
You must be using an account that has SysAdmin permissions or at least permisison to create new databases in SQL when running the install. The install also will need to assign permisisons to the Network Services account to be able to access the databases ...

Hi Mario.
My first recomendation would be to use a backend database to save information from form A and access it in form B.
This could also be done a couple different ways in Sharepoint.
Another option is to use the xml from form A as a data source for form B but this would probably be difficult with browser based forms.

Are you working out of a local drive or network drive?
Any time a form template is moved it needs to be republished so that is normal.
It sounds like you also have an issue with your visual studio environment or something different that is causing the error.

I refer to your situation as "hostile IT environment" and many of us can relate unfortunately.
The key is to leverage the big fish, department managers, VP's etc and get them to put the pressure on IT.

In code you could have ...

I think everything you are looking for is already a part of Infopath. :)
Typicall best practice is to not use the default save and save as functionality since you cannot control the file naming and location. This can be turned off in Form options.
You want to setup a data connection, which can either be to a network share or to SharePoint.
You ...

No it would not advance the record on submit. you can control this in your form. What ever record you reference in your form will be what is submitted against.
To do it right though, and what you describe, you would need to use web services. The default database connectivity has quite a few limitations, where as web services do not. In this case, ...

This would require a dual submit.
Open the form and immediately submit to get the next ID num and mark it taken.
Then the user completes the record and submits the final data at the end.
Some of the issues you will have is data validation, submitting an incomplete record initially.
Also, without using web services, it has to be the same table ...
