Just at a quick glance, I'd suggest your xpath to Full_Name is wrong:
node.selectSingleNode("Full_Name")
Should probably be:
node.selectSingleNode("@Full_Name")

I've been following this post with some interest as I have been running into the same issue that kennebg references in his last post...
I am creating a change control form. I want users to have the ability to copy data stored in a SharePoint list into a repeating table in the main form data source and be able to edit it as necessary ...
-
The only way I can seem to reproduce that particular error is if I do SetValue("") directly on root (i.e. the object returned from MainDataSource.CreateNavigator() ). Did you use Hilary's code exactly the way it is or did you modify it somehow?
-
Here's what I'd do. Please note that you are going to have to change the XPaths to match yours. For example, I added another field to my data source in the repeating Test_Details group called 'AnotherField'. Your's will have different names. Also, my ShP list has different columns.
// Get a copy ...

Oh so close I think.
Test_Details is a repeating table. HuInput is a field in that repeating table.
Maybe if I explain what I'm trying to do it will help.
I need a repeating table in the main data source that I can load from the secondary data source based on a query field. (Thanks to all of you that part is working). I then ...

First off, what does your main data structure look like? Is Test_Details a repeating group and my:HuInput a field in that group?
If so, try:
clone.selectSingleNode("my:HuInput").text = node.selectSingleNode("Test_Serial_Number").text;
-
selectSingleNode will return null if the node specified by the xpath is not found. In this case you probably need to remove the '/' before my:HuInput so instead use selectSingleNode("my:HuInput")

Sucess!! Sort of. I am now returning a valid record count on the alert. Now on to actually working through the cloning part which I have not done before.
The While Loop now executes and I get a valid string of the data back in an alert but the clone command is giving me the error: 'selectSingleNode(...)' is null or not an ...

Interesting. It works in my sample form. What event are you using the code in? Is the name of your field that you are trying to set to blank really 'my:textbox'?

Hi Hilary,
thanks for your super-fast response. unfortunetly when i use your code, debugger gives me the following error.
{"Operation is not valid due to the current position of the navigator."}
any clue what that means?
Thanks!
