I created an InfoPath form (.xsn) and published it to an already existing Forms Library. When I do a 'New' in the forms library, the form template pops up. There are a couple of things I don't understand about this.
1. The form that pops up appears to be an .xml file but not an .xsn file. How is it that I publish an .xsn file but ...

Ok here is a follow-up....I went ahead and removed the QRules Data source under the Tools Menu and reinjected my form. Now under the Data Source Task Pane I now have Qrules as a Secondary source.
I dragged the Version and Command to the form and previewed it. The Version is showing 1.7 and when typing in the GenerateGuid /format=N I still get ...

That being said, check out this post, this one, and do a search on XPathNodeIterator to get some other ideas.

If you go to fill out a new form, the fields aren't read only? But if you open a completed form (.xml) file, the filled out fields are read only? You don't have any conditional formatting or other logic on the fields that may have caused this? What happens if you fill out the form and save to a different location (not the SharePoint ...

So, first you'll select your 'master' table, then, with that table selected in the tree in the window for selecting tables, you'll click the ...
