Hi Thanks for your efforts.
I have just asked my IT department to provide me with full access to sharepoint. I am now part of the Home owners group.
However the issue still occurs.... very frustrating.
Any more ideas?

Neat. You might also try doing that from a rule on the list box's field, so that users don't have to press a button to update the number.

i was able to recreate your issue, but the issue got recreated only when i have access to the list and not to the site. if i have access to both the list and the site this error does not occur. Might be you should check your access to the sharepoint site as well as to the list.

It's difficult to know what corrective action to take without knowing what "maintenance work" was done on the server. From the error message, it seems your stored procedure was deleted. Thanks for the reply. I was just using the Count() function wrong. I tried using it as the default value for my textbox (to update when a field changes.) but it would only update once.
I simply created a button that gets the count AFTER information is entered into the multiple-selection box.
