Thanks for the help. I did have the close as part of the submit, but when I discovered that Rules execute before code I realized that wasn't going to work. I think I'll go with the versioning instead of the edit history. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that before.

I don't believe there is a way to do it with 2003.  Maybe if you had used the template part feature in InfoPath 2007.  Not the best idea to still be using 2003.

I would recommend to the manager that instead of trying to custom code something like this that will make your life much more difficult, you should rather not introduce code to your form so that it doesn't have to be administratively approved and pushed through Central Admin every time you make a single change, and instead just use version ...
