I would expect that current() returns me the row where I operate.
If it can't be used in this content, what is the solution to access the elements in the nearby column for the current row?!

The current() function can't be used in code like this, and there is no concept of a "current" row when you're accessing the XML from code. What would you expect current() to indicate in this situation?

Placing "hide this control" conditional formatting on a repeating section hides the individual rows, not the entire section. You should place your repeating section inside a non-repeating section and hide that instead.

Ahhh !!! It works now.
I had stored my XML as empty tags. When I added some dummy data to the stored XML, then the controls work properly. (My checkbox is now clickable.)

... Are you saying that a checkbox bound to a field in the secondary source is unclickable? I'm not experiencing this behavior, though I am previewing my form in the InfoPath client and not in a browser.

Hi Gary,
Qdabra's free Hide-Show XTP uses secondary data sources to set data. Check it out: http://www.infopathdev.com/blogs/mel_balsamo/archive/2009/01/14/hide-show-section-template-part.aspx
