Hi Lawson and welcome,
I assume you mean update an expression box with Now every time someone changes a field on the current view. You'll need to add a rule to the root node in the main data source. In the InfoPath designer, go to Data Source and make sure Main is selected. Find the topmost group node underneath the root node. For forms ...

SQL End Points are represented as Web Methods with a schema that is parameterized. When you create an InfoPath form from this schema (or a receive data connection) InfoPath infers a schema. That schema is stored in the XSN as an XSD file. If the Web Methods change (because a parameter changes), guess what? You have to convert your main data ...

This blog post of mine has some suggestions for leveraging SQL, but use a bit of code.
I keep wondering if you couldn't add a secondary data connection to the SharePoint list you save the XML to, then use Rules to submit, and have the first rule query that list to get all the form names, and then find the max submitted form for a month....

Hi,
I have a form with a couple of buttons. Clicking on any of the buttons first executes the RULES and then jumps to execute the code in the FormCode.cs file for the button click event. However, if I have "Close the Form" as one of the Rules for the button, the code does not execute. So, is there a way that I can close my Infopath ...

The biggest issue with incrementing form numbers is that you always have the chance of two users submitting at very close to the same time. You need to generate your number immediately prior to submit, and even that is no guarantee for a heavily used form.
Does the user need to know the form name? Have you thought about renaming the form as part ...

So should I take the lack of response as a "that's not possible" response?

To accomplish what you describe I use the DateDiff command in qRules. We created this toolset to save on development/coding time. Perhaps it'll help; read more here.
