I do not think the default could be changed but you may be able to trigger some conditional formatting if they are entering data in a cell or selecting a specific row with a button etc.

Hi Cindy.
I assume you need this number to be unique? And that there will be multiple form users?
What do you have to work with? SharePoint? SQL?

This should work in browser forms.
Were you adding conditional formatting so that the submit would be hidden based on field values? This should be fine in a browser form. You also can put your button in a section and then place the confitional formatting on the section instead.
You also should be able to have conditions on the rules of the ...

Is this a browser based form? In either the InfoPath toolbar or the browser based forms you have the ability to turn them on or off. There is no easy way to have them conditional or any other control over them. it would take some serious mucking with the program to do this and this is not justified when you can provide you own just a little lower ...

If you are just trying to set a check bow true or false based on whether any items have been checked in your control I woul think this could be done via rules.

You can send the "view" via email in InfoPath 2007. However if they do not have InfoPath they will not be able to really view the form or update the data.
You can attach the XML but there is not much they can do with it in the raw state.
Another option is InfoPath form services so people without InfoPath can view the form in a browser.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
You probably need to give me a bit more details.
What are you starting with and what do you want to end up with?
You want to fill out a web form and then submit it via email to others?
Do you need to store this data in a database? Do you need to pull dat from a database?
You can have InfoPath XML ...

Do you need a method for auto asigning numbers? Which are unique and sequential. Having the user create one or pull from a common list is usually problematic.
I could show you a couple different possibilities. Email me if you are interested.

I believe you would want to put your code in Onload event. that is the typical place.
On Startup there has not been a form loaded yet and that is why you can not make references.
How are you assigning JobNumber? Does it come from a database? does it need to be unique?
