Hi Hilary,
Thanks for your reply. I want to be able to display the data, but also make changes to it. In addition, I'd like to be able to add new rows/entries that are associated with the higher-level category being selected. Is that possible?

Have you tried the suggestion in this post? http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/30841.aspx

Hi
I have an InfoPath (2013) form which queries from, and submits data to, an Access database. The form is submitted to the database only - not to email or any other location. Sharepoint isn't an option, unfortunately.
I am attempting to attach a file (Word document) to the form, with the ability to retrieve the document when the Access ...

That is strange. I suppose I would try a test form, see if the issue reproduces. Just set up a test that is similar in its submit rules, publish to its own test library, see what happens?

If all you want to do is display the data, this is possible. You can put a repeating table on the form bound to the data fields for that data connection. Only display the columns you want (you can change that under the repeating table binding) and add conditional formatting to only display the rows that match. Let me know if you need a sample form ...

Hi Jimmy and Hilary. It's always a pleasure to see you both. Hope your doing well. I have confirmed that running the SQL statement themselves in SQL as they were generated in InfoPath, runs in SQL perfectly and inserts all rows of data. Jimmy to address your concerns if the SQL field doesn't allow for such, it will just truncate that line ...

Just want to update the thread with what we learned via email - the issue here is that the control in the form is a repeating section, not a table. I could paste in data (even multiple rows, if I added the rows prior to pasting) into my test form, but in your form, since the control is a repeating section, pasting doesn't work.

Sure - I'll email you via the forum and you can reply. The question remains, though, as to whether the issue is in the browser or filler & what versions you are using. :-)

can I send you the files I am using to test?

Ok - I just tested this in Filler - selected multiple cells (all in one row) in Excel and pasted into the first cell in my repeating table - it pasted OK. Is this in the browser? Or in InfoPath Filler? What versions of InfoPath / Excel? I'm using Office 2016 for Excel & InfoPath 2013. I set up my test with Rich Text fields in the InfoPath ...
