Please post the link to that fix for others who may read this. Thanks!

How exactly did it not work? What are the values of those dropdowns, what are the possible combinations, and what are the possible results? The idea works. How you implement it exactly depends on your values. Attach your XSN if it's easier, but you'd also need to provide a matrix of possible combinations + results.

GMK, I can't really understand what you're saying. Please view my write up on auto-generating filenames and see what part of it you can use to fix or avoid your problem:

I don't know how and I don't use any code in any of my forms. I just show the Print View in the toolbar, but have buttons on the canvas for Submit and Close. No problem with having that combination on my forms, and it is very simple + clean. I don't know of a way to force margins and such unfortunately.

Use substring-before(DateField," ") to strip out the time and try to add that date value in to a date field.

I avoid those buttons altogether and just put buttons on the form canvas where they make the most sense to me and where I can control their visibility with conditional formatting. I put two custom buttons on most forms - one for submit and one for close. My submit button usually sets some data fields, submits to the library, and THEN ...

It does seem like it would be pretty simple, but I just don't know of a way.
