in infopath template create a field say leaseRate2 and set it to recieve its value from the data connection (i.e. the original lease rate) . and in the properties of leaseRate2 uncheck update this value when the result of the formula is recalculated
-
Instead of going through all this, you can do one more thing create more than one dropdowns (with different items) and show/hide them depending on who is supposed to view what
-
i guess you can do that with normal infopath functionality, if all you do is to show the data.
drag the connection as a repeating table and on the repeating table put conditional formatting to hide if the status field = "Open".
you can do the same thing for In progress and Closed also

a question darry, if the data field feeding the calculated field is update do you want to update all values irrespective of if they are default values or whether they have been updated by user. in that case i would suggest you have rule on the feeding fields.
-
if the person does not have infopath, he wont be able to make queries
-
field4 and filed 5 are not part of repeating table
-
here you go
on the calender control of you repeating write a rule to set the value of a field say
rule 1) field4 to eval(eval(group2, 'concat(my:field3, "|")'), "..")
where group2 is your repeating table and field3 is calendar control.
rule 2) if field4 contains field3
then field 5= substring-after(field4, ...
-
go to properties of your control on which you want default value and uncheck Update this value when the result of formula is recalculated
-
conditional filling of drop down is possible only through code.

Jimmy you are right.
