Hi Jon,
In lieu of writing custom code for every coding request, we developed qRules which helps us pay for our time to monitor and respond to this forum.
All proceeds from qRules go towards paying InfoPath MVPs to respond to this forum.
And, qRules has an Insert function with a parameter for position (/posn=1) or you can say /before which ...

Hi Chris,
Why not just create a view that is used for the email and sending that as part of the data connection? That option is available out of the box.
You don't have to write code or launch Outlook and try to automate the sending. Just do it using out-of-the-box features.
Kindly,

Hi Steve,
To show the display value in a calculated value, just insert the field from the secondary data source and click Filter and specify the ID from the main data source.
Easy as pie,

Hi OneByOne and welcome!
Are you using an InfoPath form (not a list form)?
I'm assuming you are. When the item is selected, you can have a rule that copies the concatenated value to a repeating table. Unfortunately, you cannot copy to a specific row unless you manually modify the templates manifest and that technique will not work in the ...

The technique I showed in last Thursday's webinar will return the current ID without using max (@ID) and it is bullet proof and best practice.
The popularized max (@ID) technique is flawed for the following reasons:
Simultaneous submits create forms with same ID
Doesn’t work for views with permissions (just ask Doreen)
May require ...

Hi Dr Goebel and welcome,
It sure is frustrating that an update would cause a break. I'm not sure why this broke but I have a simple solution.
Replace the code with declarative logic in the form. You can do your calculation just fine without code.
Just add a rule and an action to set the value with the calculation. All Xpath and it will ...

Hi JBoyce2 and welcome,
Not sure I understand your scenario. Are you getting 2 alerts? The SharePoint alert stuff is totally independent of InfoPath. InfoPath promoted properties should be written before the alert.
Maybe there's a glitch as you say.
One easy fix would be to turn off alerts and add a reusable workflow that sends an email. ...

No idea. I've never heard of a condition limit for browser based forms. We have some very complex browser forms, but maybe none with 10 conditions. Are you using expressions to add the conditions? You might try it with 5 conditions and then 7 and see if there's a difference. Should be easy to debug if this is a number issue.

Hi Joe_Detroit,
The submit data connection doesn't support rules, but you can add an xpath with conditionality. Here's the trick:
concat(substring("UNAPPROVED", 1, 10 * (Field = 'NO')),' ', Field2)
In other words, if Field is your dropdown and it is 'NO', then Field2 (your form name) will be ...
